The service

Zitou (zitou.app) is a free app for learning Chinese, a tou.gg project. The core — dictionary, HSK course, practice, audio, writing and friends — is free.

Your account

An account is protected by a passkey or a recovery code. Keep the recovery code somewhere safe: if it is lost and no other device is signed in, the account cannot be recovered. You are responsible for what is done through your account.

Content and accuracy

The dictionary and examples come from open sources (sources). Uzbek and Russian meanings were prepared with AI and may contain mistakes: for an exam or official work, check important meanings elsewhere too.

Not allowed

• Trying to access other users’ accounts.
• Automated requests that overload the service.
• Using the service for anything unlawful.

Licences

The dictionary, audio, strokes and examples are used under their own licences (sources). The app’s design and code are by tou.gg.

Pro and payments

Pro is a set of paid extras: unlimited HSK mock tests, pronunciation practice, AI explanations (when switched on), offline audio and larger classes for teachers. The dictionary, the course, daily practice and the other core features stay free.

• The price is shown before you pay. The subscription is paid with Telegram Stars and renews automatically every 30 days through Telegram; cancel it in Telegram at any time, and Pro keeps working until the end of the paid period.
• The free week is given once per account. For invitations: 7 days of Pro for each invited friend who practises on 3 days, for up to 12 friends.
• If something goes wrong with a payment, write through the bot’s /paysupport command or the contacts below. We refund through Telegram for a mistaken payment or a Pro that did not work.
• HSK mock tests are not the official exam, and their results do not predict an official HSK result.

Classes

A teacher who opens a class uses the students’ information only for teaching and does not pass it on. A student can leave a class at any time.

Teachers

Teacher profiles must be truthful: certificates that are not yours, fake reviews or profiles in someone else’s name are not allowed. A place at the top of the list is paid in Telegram Stars, shown with the “Ad” label and counted for 7 days after payment; refunds follow Telegram’s rules. Zitou introduces teachers and learners but is not responsible for lessons, their quality or payment for them — the two sides agree on these themselves. Zitou may hide profiles that break these rules.

No warranty

The service is provided “as is”: there may be interruptions and mistakes. We may change or stop features, and will announce important changes in advance where we can.
